THE NATIONAL ATLAS OF THE REPUBLIC OF KAZAKHSTAN
It consists of three volumes
- Natural conditions and resources
- Social and economic development
- Environment and ecology
Conceptual basis of creation
Atlas is a hierarchically organized system of thematic maps, which the performance of complex assessments (top level maps) involves process of clotting component characteristics (lower level maps), i.e., transition from a set of particular indicators to one generalized.
The integration of environmental indicators (temporal, territorial, between the ingredients, inter component, between the factors) is based on the principles of quality control, where any property of quality is defined by two numerical parameters - the relative significance and importance.
The Atlas contains three types of thematic maps:
- inventory, that display elements of the environment and sources of human impact;
- inventory and assessment, that describe the reaction medium on the human impacts;
- complex estimates, containing ecology assessment, describing the condition of individual components and environment in general.
- For mapping of territorial units used:
- political and administrative division;
- landscape and geographical regionalization;
- basin zoning;
- selective territorial division;
- absence of territorial units (contours methods)
