Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation (MWRI) of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nurzhan Nurzhigitov visited JSC "Institute of Geography and Water Security" (Institute). He held a meeting with the Institute's management and water sector specialists. The purpose of this visit was to get acquainted with the Institute's activity and discuss actual water problems of Kazakhstan.
Academician Medeu Akhmetkal Rakhmetullaevich Chairman of the Board of JSC "Institute of Geography and Water Security", presented an extensive report on "Ensuring water security of the Republic of Kazakhstan: water resources management" also went over the results of studies carried out by the Institute on the Ertis, Balkash-Alakol and Aral-Syrdarya river basins. At the same time, he noted that all major water projects were implemented with the support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan. During the visit, the Minister visited the structural subdivisions of the Institute, where each head briefly informed about the activities of their research subdivisions. The Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Nurzhigitov Nurzhan Moldiyarovich highly appreciated the scientific work of the Institute staff, wished further successful fruitful work and called for active co-operation with the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation, in particular with the Committee of Water Resources (CWR).
